Reading Response #1:

In 2013 famous artist Jeff Koons constructed a 12 foot steel sculpture, named the “Balloon Dog Orange” which eventually became known as the “the most expensive art piece to be sold at auction” for an astounding $58.4 million dollars. In the modern digital age artists have transitioned into a new form of digital art which artist Michael Green utilizes in his “self-recycling” GIF inspired by Jeff Koons pieces.

Micheal Green's digital art piece, “Balloon dog deflated” was initially glamorized on the social media platform tumblr. Mr. Green's “Deflated balloon dog” GIF was featured in the “2o14” museum which is regarded as one of the “most relevant space(s)” for digital art observation captivated in a non-physical museum.

After receiving millions of view the piece “Deflated Balloon Dog” was posted on Ebay by Mr. Green with a price tag of $2,000. After receiving no bids the initial asking price of $2,000 was later increased to an astonishing $5,800 to accommodate the $58.4 million dollar sale of Jeff Koons “Balloon Orange Dog '' which the digital art piece was inspired by.

Some refer to the digital art medium within Micheal Green's work as the destruction of traditional art forms, referring to Green's piece as the “death” of traditional art concepts, lacking the optimism which traditional artists such as Jeff Koons captivate within their traditional pieces. Other perspectives se

e digital art as an evolutionary progression to modern art. Micheal Green along with many newly emerging postmodernist artists (utilizing a digital medium) are regarded as a “new generation” of artists and innovators.
