ARTIST STATEMENT
Hello, my name is Kobe Tamura, I am currently a student at the University of Colorado boulder entering my third year of schooling studying architecture. I am originally from Boise, Idaho a small mountainous city, and have currently been residing in Boulder for the past two years. As a child my passion for art stared with forming small lopsided structures with “Legos” which was heavily influenced by my father’s career as an architect. Art itself has been a very influential aspect throughout my life my, in forms such as indulging in music/ musical instruments, videography, and photography. Propelling through life I have heavily intergraded art into my educational field of studies. Throughout the past two years studying at the University of Colorado Boulder, I have been studying environmental design, emphasizing in architecture. In my time in the Environmental Design school, I have learned how to utilize the fundamentals of art throughout design, form, and function. During my second year of school, I became very intrigued with photography, specifically film photography. The black and white composition of film photography really makes you appreciate natural design and contrast and complexity within the environment around us.
My hopes though attending digital arts is to strengthen my skills within adobe programs to later utilize as a tool and technique for future endeavors.
Art to me is the way that we as individuals conceptualize and portray our individualistic feeling among each other as a community. Weather being music, traditional art, or abstract art, art is an international form of unity which has no barriers.
